Whakapapa | History

Kai Mārō has grown quickly, cementing ourselves as the new golden standard in cultural capability and kaupapa-Māori solutions. Today we continue to build on that legacy and strive for excellence in everything we do.

We started as a statement in 2016, providing a level of kaupapa-Māori advice Aotearoa hadn't seen. Since then we've expanded our reach in to language, strategy and the transformation of people and organisations.

Tūrei Ormsby

Tūrei began his career in education, facilitating learning achievement in the Hawkes Bay. Through education Tūrei moved in to corporate advisory building cultural capability, developing strategic relationships and creating kaupapa Māori solutions for crown agencies across Aotearoa.

Founder & Managing Director

Tūrei is a licensed translator and interpretor as accredited by the Māori Language Commission, he is a member of the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters and a member of the Board of Interpreting New Zealand.

Tūrei holds a Bachelors degree in Māori studies, a first-class honors degree in Te Reo Māori and a post-graduate diploma in Adult Education.
